Happy Tuesday!

Pardon my French, but yesterday sucked! (Why do we blame everything on the French?) It was one of the worst days I’ve had in a long time. Homeschooling did not go well. The kids fought me on everything I tried to do. There were lots of tears and time-outs – for me as well as the kids. It was awful. I was tired. I was crabby. I gave up for the day and made the kids go to their rooms. I wish I could say it got better after nap time, but it didn’t.

I threw out a lifeline to my friend Wendy and waited. I left a message on my Facebook saying, “Niki Nowell is having a crappy day!” I called Benny and cried some more. I wanted to demand that he give up his day of rest and come home to rescue me, but I didn’t. He encouraged me the best he could and told me to call a girlfriend and get some advice. He warned me not to isolate myself. I told him I emailed Wendy, but decided to call Jennifer as well. She’s been homeschooling twice as long as I have and she loves me. Surely she would be an encouragement. But I still feared being “needy”. It has become “not ok” with a few of my friends.

After bedtime routines were completed and I had a silent house for a few hours before Benny was due to be home, I jumped on-line to check my email before calling Jennifer. Wendy had emailed me back and let me just say, I am so incredibly blessed to have her in my life. She said everything right, and everything I needed to hear. I had chosen her specifically for how she sees my heart and loves me through things.  I also had an email from Jennifer!  She had read my status on Facebook and wanted to offer to talk if I needed it.  (Thank you God!)  So I called Canada (free from my home phone) and Jennifer and I chatted for over three hours.  I’m not sure why I keep bringing this up, maybe to show God’s amazing grace in my life, but Jennifer and I haven’t always been friends.  We were enemies in college.  A fact we blame entirely on Satan.  We’re just sure He meant to keep us apart because together we’re a force to be reckoned with!  Our lives have paralleled in scary, sad, and hilarious ways and we are so thankful for the healing and nurturing that has happened with us over the past few years.  She’s an amazing friend.

***Update:  Today is now Thursday and I still haven’t posted this thing!  That should tell you how my week has been going.  Tuesday was a huge improvement over Monday, and Yesterday we did a field-trip to the library.  We have been keeping VERY busy this week and we are desperately trying to get back on some semblance of a routine.  That includes no computer until after we’re done with “school” for the day.  I’ve been working on Part 3 of “A Princess Story” and will post it soon.

Hope you’re all doing well.

I hate doing laundry.

Blades of Glory was really dumb.  My first clue should have been the MTV trademark at the beginning of the film.  They might as well flash a neon sign that reads, “Mindless, sexual, idiotic humor ahead”.  There goes an hour and a half of my life I’ll never get back. Honestly, there were a few good laughs…a few.  Most of it was stupid.  The previews looked kind of funny…I’m a sucker.
Still feeling a bit tired and achy.

I am LOVING the weather here.  It’s finally cooling down a bit – YEAH!   Remind me of my statement this winter when I get buried under 4 feet of snow! 😉

I’d love to visit some blogs today, but I have tons of work to get done before Heather T. spends the night with me.   So I’m just checking in.

I can’t figure out why I bother with social networking sites when I don’t even have time to nurture my own circle of friends.  My friend Heather H. (the massage therapist) invited me to get a myspace page.  I finally did so I could leave her comments.  I don’t know what the heck I’m doing with it.  I actually had an old college friend email me and tell me he saw that my profile said I’m single and wanted to know what happened. lol  I emailed him back and said I’m still happily married to Benny – I just don’t know what the heck I’m doing on myspace.  yikes!  I’d better get my act together…and soon!

My friend Tonya is really sick and could use your prayers.

My friend Jan sent me a pretty funny meme I’ll post later.

I’m in the middle of a Bible study that’s kicking my butt!

Did I mention that I hate doing laundry?

Catching my breath…

I have a lot to say about the past month, but it’s gong to take me a few days to say it. Here’s the general idea of my life over the past month:

Tawnya came for a visit and we had a great time. I have some great stories and pictures to share. So did she…Have you checked out her blog yet?

Benny decided to rearrange the house and build loft beds for the kids to create more floor space to play. Quite a project, but it was done with FREE wood – yeah Craig’s List!

Benny went out of town for a few days to help his brother with some projects.

I flew to MN/ WI for my sister’s wedding, which went pretty well. Be watching for “A Princess Story – Part 3”.

I got back to CO on Wednesday and I’ve been running since then! It has been nice chatting with friends on the phone while I’m getting caught up on housework/laundry,etc.

Benny left Wednesday for a healing conference in Castle Rock and he’ll be home tonight. There’s some really amazing things happening there!

My friend Tonia is coming to Denver today and will be here for a week staying with her childhood friend that lives 10 minutes from me. She’s a blogging friend I’ve not met face to face yet, so I’m excited to meet her.

I’m excited about worship tomorrow!

Petey is being healed from his allergies. He even had regular milk this morning on cereal with no reaction. 😉

So much to say…so little daylight. I’ll try to blog after the kids go to bed tonight and before Benny gets home. The kids and I are off on an adventure!

Have a great day and be sure to stop back this week to check out my pictures!

Still Learning

Special thanks to the blogmaster for teaching me how to add links to my blog. 🙂

The sites listed are a few of my favorites. Some help, some challenge, some just make me laugh. I’m loving this whole blogging thing. I’ve been telling friends that I created a blog and most of them look at me and say “a what?”. I’ve been reading a lot of other peoples thoughts on their blogs…I’m not so weird afterall. There is still so much to learn about what I can do with this thing. For now…simple is good. Thanks for coming!

In the beginning…I didn’t know what I was doing. This blog thing is all new to me. I was inspired to get my own blogspot by an inspiring friend. A place to share my thoughts in my own style, not bound by English rules and proper grammar…not bound by much really. I do know how to use proper grammar, but why not break a few rules now and then? (Yes, I even tend to color outside the lines once in awhile – in bright, bold colors!) A friend in college shared her love of e.e. cummings wih me. She loved the all-lower case type and even mimicked it in her own writings. Me, I like to have fun with punctuation and long, continous thoughts. So, welcome to MY journey and my life. I hope you find something to inspire you here, or at least make you think, laugh, or cry. If you don’t, feel free to use your “freedom” to read someone else’s blog. 🙂
