Happy Birthday Tawnya!!!

(She’s the one on the right)

Tawnya, you have been an unwavering and loyal friend. I’m so thankful that God brought us together way back when we were 17 year old college freshmen. We’ve officially been friends for half of our lives! (Not that we’re old or anything!) 😉 We have shared secrets and sorrows, laughter and tears, and best of all, we’ve shared our faith with each other. I couldn’t ask for a better friend. I miss living close enough to have lunch, but love our long talks on the phone. (Yeah Cingular mobile to mobile!) You have added so much colorful creativity and joy to my life. I’ve watched you uplift my husband and play with my children. You have challenged me to be a better person. You truly are a part of my family. I love you my friend.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

It’s officially after midnight here in Colorado and I need to get my bum in bed. But first I get to announce that it is here…what you might ask? October 4th! What a glorious day! O.K. so it’s still dark and will be for several more hours…bear with me here. Four years ago today God blessed our lives with a beautiful baby girl. When she wakes up in a few hours asking where all of her presents are, she will have messy hair in her eyes, probably want to wear one of her brother’s shirts while carrying her pink princess cell phone in one hand, and a sword in the other. That is the wonderful essence that is Zoe. My smiling little sweetheart that loves to take on both of her brothers. She’s tough yet tender. I love it! I can’t imagine life without her! She has already requested Chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream for breakfast. Yummy. We’ll spend the morning as a family and let her open her gifts, then the rest of the day is packed with activities while Benny works. Should be fun, huh?

Happy Golden Birthday Princess Zoe!

October 4th is also special because tonight is the season premiere of LOST…one of the best shows on television. Adam, I know you’ll be tuning in! Shay even joked about canceling worship team rehearsal so we don’t miss it. Thank you God for our DVR!!! It is one of my few T.V. joys – indulge me.

A very slow mend…

I’m beginning to be a bit of a downer, aren’t I? I’m hoping to get my groove back anytime now. It’s been a week since I got sick, and I’m just not improving very quickly. This morning the sore throat was back, though not bad enough to warrant meds. My energy is extremely low and I’m crabby. Benny told me today he wants his nice wife back. 😦 (Sorry honey!) What on earth is keeping me down???

Stress. That’s got to be it. I don’t slow down very well. We have been a freight train family for the past few months and in reality, we ‘re supposed to be a stage coach family. We want people to find rest in us and with us and instead I think we’ve been inviting others to be busy and running constantly with us. Maybe I’m not healing quickly because I need the rest. In all truthfulness I want the rest too, I just don’t want to feel bad to have to get it. I thought I had gotten good at just saying no and not volunteering for everything under the sun. I guess I need to take another look at my priorities and make sure my activities are in line with them.

I also need to declutter my life again. I am a born-organized person, but I have certain areas of my life that seem to be in constant chaos. For instance, I have paper piles that I have no idea what is in them. Flylady says babysteps will get me through it. Every once in awhile I fall off the Flylady wagon…time to climb back on. I need to tackle the mental clutter too. Oi! That’s a fun word – Thanks Billy! 🙂

Stress and clutter…that could be it…but right now I just need more sleep…

If you don’t frequent my other blog – I’d love your thoughts on the latest topic being discussed there.

Another Sad Day…

There was another school shooting here in Colorado today. ;(
It’s been 7 years since the shootings at Columbine High School and still the city feels the weight of it.

Today, a man (name is still not being released) walked into Platte Canyon High School and took a group of girls hostage – he dismissed the boys from the classroom – the guy talked with negotiators through the girls. There was a boy who had tried to insist on staying with the girls, but the man put the gun to his head and made him leave too. By 4 p.m. he had released all but two of the girls. A SWAT team stormed the classroom to try to save the two girls and the man shot one of them in the head. He then turned the gun on himself. The girl who was shot – Emily Keyes, died a short time later. It all took place in Bailey, a small mountain community about an hour from my house. My heart aches for her family and friends. As a parent, I think that would be the most horrible news anyone could give me. Please pray for this family, school, and community.
